THE EAST COAST SURFING HALL OF FAME REGIONAL NOMINATING COMMITTE MAY CHANGE A SELECTED CATEGORY WITH YOUR SUBMISSION OR AT A LATER DATE IF THE REGIONAL NOMINATION COMMITTEE DETERMINES THIS ENHANCES A CANDIDATE'S CHANCES FOR SELECTION.

Legends -3 NOMINATION SLOTS are Awarded to an individual, male or female, who has achieved fame as a respected surfer, and is considered a legend or a pioneer. This recognition can be for being considered one of the first surfers to establish the sport in a particular area; or an individual who has pioneered one or more innovative techniques in wave riding, surfboard design and construction; or achieved legendary status in the surfing community regionally, nationally or internationally.

INDUSTRY - 1 Nomination slot is awarded to an individual, male or female, who has achieved prominence in the surf industry as a surf shop owner; surfboard manufacturer, shaper or glasser; business leader or sales representative; contest producer or organizer; or whose work led to an important product design or equipment innovation.
Cecil Lear President's Award
An ECSHOF Cecil Lear President’s Award recipient shall be selected by the ECSHOF Board of Directors and awarded to an individual, male or female, who has made a lasting contribution in leadership or mentoring to East Coast Surfing.
SPECIAL RECOGNITION
Special recognition - 1 nomination slot is awarded to an An ECSHOF Special Recognition recipient, when appropriate, shall be selected by the ECSHOF Board of Directors. It will be awarded to an individual who has made an extraordinary and significant contribution to East Coast Surfing. Their contribution will have positively raised the awareness and profile of East Coast Surfing in the public eye and/or set new positive standards for East Coast Surfing as a sport or industry.
